If I had kids to feed & was desperate enough, I think I'd be more likely to take up thievery. I once considered phone sex when broke, but decided I didn't want most of the guys inside my head. I'm not great at compartmentalizing.
Now, way back in pre-internet days, when I was young & hot-bodied, a few nude pics were taken for fun... but hey, I have some of the men, too. These days, so much ends up on the 'net that I wouldn't feel comfortable w/ that. I hate it that creeps w/ camera phones can take pics so easily at my favorite nekkid swim spots, or at festivals... I want more control over my own private image, dammit. Should be my choice. -

There are times when being very intuitive, empathic & thinking visually can be a drag... namely when I feel the yecccccch factor. While naturally I can't & shouldn't be anyone's brain cop, I prefer not to make that kind of invasiveness easier.
There are times I will just block out any unwanted energy... But it's always because I want to be comfortable, to feel the breeze or water on my body... That's usually in wild outdoor settings, &/or where I know community standards are such that it's unlikely anyone will behave like an asshole, & taking images w/o asking is considered stealing...
I spent a lot of time on the beach when I lived in Florida, for instance. When strange men followed me, settled down nearby & just stared, I used to make faces at them, or sometimes go right up & loudly say "NO!!!", w/ some very macha body language & direct eye contact... It's all a similar energy to me- I'm making it clear I'm not there FOR them.
A brief non-pushy whistle or a smile, a hello, a wink... that's all fine, even if someone doesn't set-off the lust-o-meter. That's not de-humanizing.
I realize not everyone feels this way; obviously it's different for you, Myriad; thanks for explaining a bit.
But really, tho' I'm comfortable naked, & plenty into fooling w/ visuals w/ the men I want, that's where it ends. I'm not open to the public in that way. Feels too meat-like, too passive for my nature... whereas writing or more clothed performance or any other form of art doesn't. -

I get creeped out by people following me too, but if they look at me with lust in their loins and scamper of to go daydream, well, I guess I just don't have a problem with that. Taking pictures is different because that's something they could use to make money or to expose me without my consent. When I don't mind who sees whatever it is I'm doing though, then I don't mind pictures so long as I don't find people selling photos of me. I dunno. It just isn't about me on anything more than a fantastically superficial level. It's like getting angry at people for daydreaming about driving your car, or about sitting in your garden. So long as you don't find them sitting in the driveway staring, which is an invasion of space and brings the situation to a point where physical altercation is suddenly a potential, then who cares?
Obviously your feelings are valid for you, but I just don’t understand them and if somebody were to say such to me (be angry that I’d fantasized about them.... though how they would know without me sharing that I’m unsure) I would be affronted at the attempt to dictate my thoughts, insulted that they assumed such fantasies were at all personal, and I’d lose respect for them for being upset by the mere thought of sexual desire from somebody they didn’t find attractive. -

I just want to shield myself somewhat, because of my sometimes too-strong ability to pick up on all kinds of undercurrents. It's more of a yecccccccch I-don't-want-those-vibes-or-images-in-my-head feeling... It really does feel invasive. In addition, I have safety & general privacy concerns.
And while I know you're not like this at all, I have heard a lot of women in denial about what it really means to put more explicit images out there.
Anyone adult wants to should be able to do it if that's comfortable, & it's a fully informed choice.. But it's important to truly be aware that when the images go out... they really are OUT THERE in the public domain, & there is no real control. While many women are fully aware, quite a few (especially the very young women or teen girls & boys most in demand) are not. I'm not advocating censorship, just full awareness. -

I know if I didn't feel it I'd think it was crazy, that logically I would feel like it was no big deal and didn't matter. I guess I've just found that there are some things I just don't understand and have to take other people's word for it and there are some things like feeling other people's energy in different ways including this one that I can't explain to most people and have them get what I'm saying.
Usually when I've mentioned it instead of just not responding I get something similar to what you said Myriad. But I'm not sure how to explain that I can be icked out and not like something, something tangible to me and yet not be trying to be the brain police. Just as I will have to deal with the ickiness someone who icks me out may have to deal with me telling them that it icks me out. I'm not telling them what to do, but I don't feel any need to protect their fantasy that I'm aroused by it if I'm not. Of course there are times...well more specifically people who I feel it from and it is arousing and then it's a sensual gift to be able to feel their energy that way. So just like my skin is super sensitive and some times this means there is a scratchy part on my shirt driving me insane and other times my sensitive skin is a magic gift of good sensations intensified so is feeling people's energy. Not just in this way that I can sometimes feel someone's sexual energy pointed at me, but in all of the other ways I feel it.

Fri, July 25, 2008 - 7:18 PMI think you're incorrect SV. I don't like somebody with icky energy in the room leering at me any more than the next person. It's squicky. I just don't care one whit if they find me arousing and take that image home with them to do.... eh, calisthenics. When it's just looking from across the room I generally have a fairly thick skin unless the person is REALLY creepy. In those cases it's generally fairly easy to dispatch of such people. As soon as I make it clear that I have absolutely no interest in swooning into their arms, or even really talking to them, they tend to depart. It's a VERY rare person who will make me so uncomfortable just by looking at me though. It just isn't mine and tend to roll off me. I have developed very firm boundaries of "me" and "not me" where it concerns strangers. I've had to.
