I realized today that I don't really daydream any more. And I really should be. I've created a good bit of room in my life for things that make me happy, but I'm not sure what to put in there.
So my question is, what are the top five things that bring you joy?
And, if you care to share, what sorts of things do you daydream about?

Re: Joy
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 10:36 AMI don't think I daydream.
some things that bring me joy are
Being me(not sure how to explain that one...just the moments where I feel strong in being a unique person that I respect)
Communicating/helping people find their voice
My little ones of course!
My Sweetie
dancing
kitties
oh I already went one over(o: I suddenly have the urge to try to come up with a list of 100 things...

Re: Joy
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 10:48 AMIn no particular order..
CATS. I cried from seeing a cute kitten once.
Being with my Master, but mostly when we snuggle.
Drawing, and completing a good drawing.
Sugar. I love candy and dessert.
Going out to see movies. If I had the money, I'd go see every movie that came out whether it looked good or not. I just love the experience.
What do I daydream about? Hmm.. Sex, a lot (lol), actually getting a house, all the things we could do there, my old group of friends, and getting some new ones.

Re: Joy
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 12:34 PM1)Laughter with my son
we attempt this every day
2)laughter with my friends
last night was a much needed session of amazing women laughing hysterically. Thank Goddess for my awesome girlies!
3)when something really good happens to me or someone I love
this happened three times this week. I landed a job with one of my professors, my best friend found out she's having a girl and two friends that I introduced are getting very serious... he's moving down here to be with her!
4)passionate love and lovemaking
I know this is on the way
5) taking a class I really enjoy
looking forward to this again.
I daydream about sex for sure. I also daydream about travel and romance, about my future career, about loved ones that have passed and fictional characters when I'm reading a good book. -

Re: Joy
Fri, June 6, 2008 - 3:27 PMI'm with Naughty Kitty! Pretty damn joy-filled lately!
The last three months of my life have BEEN a daydream - one I don't want to wake up from!
but if I had to list them...(not in order of 'joy factor'
1. dancing ~ we have a bi-weekly dance gathering where we just move and enjoy each others energy - it's heaven!
2. playful, play-filled sex ~ the sessions that end in laughter are the BEST!
3. gathering with friends and sharing food, music and each other's time
4. getting rid of material stuff ~ I'm in down-sizing and simplifying moving-mode. The best is when I can give something away to someone else who will enjoy or needs it.
5. seeing my son smile ~ he's had a really rough year... and it makes me bubble over when something goes 'right' for him

Re: Joy
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 8:33 PMMostly I bring myself joy. I suffered from intense chronic depression for many years and it was only when I decided to find joy in the things around me that I began to come out of it. I choose to focus on the little beautiful things in the world around me; not to the point of dangerously ignoring the bad bits in the world, but enough to keep me smiling.

Re: Joy
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 11:44 PMyknow you dont have to hurry dreams, they will come to you when you are ready. like wabbits.
i daydream a lot. its one of my favourite pastimes : )
i daydream about my love. about being with him, our future together.
i daydream about san francisco, walking past apartments i imagine an entire floor that i would see as one of our suites. just how i would dress up these different places, and languish about.
oh and of course sex, i daydream about sex. a lot.
and there are many things that give me joy. the most fundamental thing, feeling connected. making people laugh, enabling them to come out a little more. kicking ass at my job. munchkins, poi. kittens. animals in general, nature. a warm sunny day. the love in my heart. how blessed i am to have the friends i do, lavishing in my life, living in san francisco, yeah. that gives me so much joy. dancing, of course. thats like water. food, sex. just being alive, yknow?

Re: Joy
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 12:49 AMI have been making a real attempt lately to not think about the past, worry about the future (hey - for an exercise, try that even for a few days!), and therefore what the hell do I think about?! So I have been daydreaming about my new apartment, which I move into next weekend, how I want to decorate it. I have daydreaming about the furniture I wish to make...specifically, a kitchen table that I have designed in my head in various types of colored woods, and a specific bunny cage that I wish to make and possibly sell if it works out. I am looking foward to getting my foster bunny back from this idiot woman who doesn't understand him.

Re: Joy
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 9:14 AMI stopped daydreaming good daydreams for awhile. I realized that the day to day world and the mundane had taken over. I was so busy trying to survive and keep it together I forgot to have visions of the future and playful daydreams.
1. my dog and cat
2. my friends
3. nature and birds chirping
4. being really SEEN (now that is the kind of joy that brings me to tears)
5. Creating, which include healing, singing, and all other things that make me feel alive. Helping others.
I daydream about what it would be like to set my own schedule and to feel really healthy and sing and teach and do healing work and inspire others to feel empowered in their own lives. I daydream about a partner that really meets me.

Re: Joy
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 9:02 PMI don't think I could make a definitive list because it can change from day to day. So here's five things that brought me joy since midnight:
I woke, briefly, early this morning to a beautiful orange sunrise gently lighting the evergreens in front of the cottage.
When I got up a bit later the lake was like glass; shimmering, beautiful, crisp, clean water.
My oldest daughter arrived home from camp today and she had a wonderful time; I was so happy for her.
We were out doing yardwork as the rain clouds closed in around us and a perfect, full, double rainbow appeared arcing over our yard.
Katie and I got the Tai Chi DVD back out and got back into it. It felt really good.
We are SOOO lucky. :-)
I don't daydream much at all anymore. I used to. I know what you mean Miele -- it feels like there's lots of room. I think I'm starting to figure it out though. -

Wed, June 11, 2008 - 5:58 PMThanks Miele. Sometimes I miss me too. And I miss you too. As bizarre as that may be.

Re: Joy
Mon, June 9, 2008 - 7:25 PMtop 5 things?
my kids, esp. when they are being nice to each other
my G-man, just doing every day things around the house together
my friends, when we share and connect and intermingle our support and love
then it gets really hard to be specific... I can find ecstatic bliss in the way a weed flowers, as evidence of the amazingness of nature and evolution, or the bloom of mold on cheese, or the knit together edges of a scar...

Re: Joy
Mon, June 9, 2008 - 8:06 PMBeauty, in all forms.... especially vivid color
Free-flowing bodies of water
Children, especially groups at play
Circumstances that unfold convincing me that God IS, and is INVOLVED
Human love for one another.. as in HELP when one has no means of exchange ("Aloha"... or "Pioneer's Spirit") -

Re: Joy
Mon, June 9, 2008 - 9:49 PM5 things that bring me joy? Wow I think about this reading through all of the posts and it changes for me day to day.
Waking up naturally without an alarm. Preferably by a lovers touch that makes you tingle to arousal.
Walking on the beach listening to the waves and birds.
Puppies and kitties.
Taking photos of everything that catches my eye.
Standing under a waterfall being cleansed and massaged at the same time.
I don't daydream much anymore but today, I did. It was all about Dave Matthews and his great music.

Re: Joy
Tue, June 10, 2008 - 9:24 AM1. Family
2. Friends
3. My clubs and fraternities.
4. Progress in achieving my goals.
5. My literary compositions - creative writing & poetry.
Daydreaming? Oh, I still daydream a fair bit. It's fun, especially in the summer. Take time off from work, hop on a bike and head off to some grassy slope, sit under a shady tree, watch the sky, let the imagination run free! -

Re: Joy
